Samantha Lea has an AT/RT Atypical Teratoid Rabdoid brain tumor. She is only 22 months old and tomorrow is her birthday.

She has had multiple brain surgeries and is still going through several rounds of Chemo.

Kelly Kennedy, a close personal friend of ours has taken the exectutive directors position for Retail Confectioners International. In other words, LOTS OF CANDY IS INVOLVED! She was recently on the front page of the Springfield Business Journal and had a wonderful interview. Kelly was recently the development manager for the Springfield Symphony and also the reason we are the Symphonys offical photographer. Kelly is certanly on the fast track! Way to go!

Daytona's Automotive

Dogwood Canyon with the kids

Traci and I took Emma and Max to Dogwood Canyon this week. The weather was wonderful. Emma had a blast throwing rocks in the water and looking at the "fishies" If you have never been to this place before, I highly recommend it. You can rent bikes or just walk the 3 mile paved trail.

I actually proposed to Traci here so it has a special place in our hearts. This August we will have been married 8 years.

Building the backyard play set

Well the day has finally arrived. We have had this thing waiting in our garage for several months and today is the day to build it. This thing had 3 levels, 3 swings, telescope, window with shutters, a straight slide and the coolest thing of all, a curly slide. We had pee gravel delivered for the foundation. I was really debating on what would be the best. it was between the special gravel(small enough so the little ones would not choke on it) a bit more expensive i might add, Tree mulch and the rubber mulch. The Pee gravel won. Jeff was so excited about the gravel he was happy to spread it out for us. No doubt the hardest job of the day. Thanks to Jeff, Brent, and my Father-in-law Dick and my dad Dan. The play set turned out fantastic. Now if we could just get the kids to go down that slide.

We were invited to photograph at a dinner party held at the Metro by Dee Wampler. Jamie Farr was the special guest . Wow was this guy fun to talk to. It was so surreal to be standing next to "Klinger". He told us some really great stories about being in the MASH Crew. He was much shorter than I thought he would be. I guess most people look taller on tv.

Springfield Symphony

I have been given the honor of being the official Springfield Symphony Photographer. It has been really fun to be a part of such a wonderful organization. Ron Spegleman is the Music Director and I really like his style. He is very down to earth. The whole staff at the symphony is really fantastic. Our good friend Kelly Kennedy who is in charge of the fund raising for the symphony totally hooked me up with this gig.

Below are a few shots of the Out of This World and Playing with Fire concert. Robert Spring was the guest artist. Man was he good! He dis this thing called circular breathing that allows him to keep playing as long as he likes without taking a pause for a breath. Wow!

After the concert we headed over to the concerts underwriters for a afterglow reception. Below is a shot of Ron and Skip Motsenbocker one of the partners at Walnut Capital Management. Make sure to check out their link. Very cool company.

Max Started to crawl about a week ago and is all over the place. He is about a month ahead of Emma when she was this age. Emma loves to wrestle with him and Max loves it. It is going to be really funny when Max can totally take Emma down.

The Heart Ball 2008

This is the third year we have covered the fund raiser for the 2008 Springfield Heart Ball. I can not express how much we love being a part of such a wonderful event. This year was the best ever! Great food from most of the best restaurants in town. A silent and live auction and they capped it off with some awesome music from the band Code Blue and the Flatliners from Monroe, Louisiana. These guys rock!

Last year's event raised more than $115,000 with over 400 patrons to support cardiovascular research and education. I know that we surpassed that this year!

The slogan this year was "Heart of Rock and Roll" and many of the guest dressed the part.

Emma's first hair cut

Emma had her first haircut today at Cookie Cutters. This place was really cool. They have a play gym in the front of the store and the coolest thing is that they have all these little retro cars and even an airplane that the kids can sit in just like they would in a normal salon chair. They turn and raise up and down. They also have videos at every booth and the kids can choose what they want to watch. Emma never knew what hit her.

WoW! what a great show we had last weekend. I had a great crew helping me. Hilary my intern, Deanne my 2nd shooter, Lindsay one of my brides that took the day off work to help and Kelly, who has been invaluable in helping us with our marketing. Emma and Lost Valley

Traci and I took Emma camping for the first time to Lost Valley at the Buffalo National River in Arkansas. This is one of the prettiest trails down there. Last time we came down here it had been raining solid for a few days and the water levels were the highest I have ever seen them. Eden Falls at the end of the trail was flowing Big Time.

No Rain this trip. In fact, the weather was perfect for camping. We arrived just at dusk and Started a fire. I then found a nice soft patch of ground to pitch our tent. In fact, the ground was covered with leaves and the ground was very loose. I can remember thinking "I wonder why the ground is so soft here". Well after a night of hot dogs and smores we settled in for the night. Emma was in the middle of Traci and me. She kept poking my back and then I realized that there was no way that she could be poking me because I was laying on my back. I laid still for a little bit and I felt it again. Turned out there was some type of little rodent that had been rooting around in the ground and the little guy was back to rooting under our tent. It was really weird. Emma kept saying what's that poking me.

Lindsay and Joe' Wedding

Lindsay and Joe have been one of my most fun clients. I can certainly call them friends. So we can now post images from Lindsay's bridal shoot now that the wedding is over. Lindsay wanted me to hold off until the wedding so Joe would not see any of the images. Lindsay is so fun to work with. She is very comfortable in front of the camera and can really be a complete goof ball sometimes.

The wedding was held at James River and the reception was at Wellington Place two of my favorite places in town to shoot.

Madam Butterfly

My little buddy Max is where he can hold his head up now. He is such a BIG BOY. He is a very good baby! He will just look into your eyes and shoot you a great big smile. Sweet, sweet, sweet.

If you notice the little ring on his finger; this ring was on traci's grandfather in a very old photograph that they have as well. Kind of cool!

Loren was really fun to work with. We started out in the studio and then headed downtown for some thing more relaxed. Loren was very comfortable in front of the camera. We were in the middle of shooting when some guys from one of the local tattoo shops came by to let us know that we could use their shop for a background if we wanted to. It was a kinda weird moment for us. So we said thanks and then slipped around the corner. Maybe next time.

Shawn and Stephanie

Our first session with Shawn and Stephanie was October of last year in Washington DC. We had a great time walking around the monument mall and got some amazing engagement images. I can't begin to tell you how great it has been to work with Shawn and Stephanie. These are top notch people. They have been so kind to us. After we had our son Max we received the cutest little outfit from them, as well as, little note cards throughout the year leading up to the wedding. We also did a Bridal session a few weeks before the wedding. I have one posted below. Steph wanted me to wait to post them until Shawn saw them first.

The wedding day went very smoothly. We started at A Valeria Boss Salon. Stephanie had her hair done by one of our recent brides that works there. I really like this salon. It is one of the coolest pads in town. Great atmosphere, music, artists and hairdos. Did I mention that they have a lather lounge?

The wedding was held at University Heights Baptist Church. After the ceremony, we headed to MSU. and downtown for some fun shots.

The reception was held at the University Plaza ballroom. All in all it was a wonderful day. The wedding party and family was wonderful to work with.

Rachel and Rob's Wedding

I can not say enough about the Hover's and Bergin's. What a wonderful group of people. The original plan was to have the wedding at the Hover's home. But the weather was not so good. Rachel was of course very disappointed. However, everything turned out wonderfully thanks to Barbara and Joyce Chriswell of The Brides Maid. The wedding was held at the Hover's Church and the reception was at the Tower Club. The big supprise came on the first dance. The original plan was for fireworks to go off at the house when Rachel and Rob did their first dance. The rain squelched that plan or so everyone thought. Rob, secretly made some phone calls to the right people and got the ok to shoot fireworks off in town during the first dance. Rachel was taken completely by surprise! It was a magical moment for everyone. Everything was perfect!

Emma and Bri's 2 year birthday party

We had a 2 year birthday party for Emma and one of her friends Bri last week. As usual, we had Celebrations by Sonja do the cake. It is really wedding cake under the guise as a birthday cake. It was all the rave. The cake had several little fondant balls on it and Emma had 3 in her mouth before we could get it outside. She is really sneaky.

We had several wonderful friends and family there to celebrate. I spent most of the time grilling hot dogs and hamburgers as well as taking lots of pictures.

Rachel and Rob

We met Rachel and Rob in Kansas City on the Plaza for their engagement session and had a really great time. It was the first time for me to meet Rob and it felt that we had been friends for quite a while. Rachel and Rob are very down to earth and I just let them do their own thing during the shoot. They are very comfortable with each other. We had dinner afterwards at Houston's. Rob ordered a grilled artichoke appetizer, (my first time). I proceeded to take the whole of one of the leafs and chew on it. Rob informed me that I was just to scrape the meat off the leaf with my teeth. I guess that explains why I found the leaf to be very chewy. Needless to say, I felt a bit silly. By the way, they make the best French Dip I have ever had there. Rachel and Rob's wedding is this weekend and will no doubt be very fun! Click here to see all the images.

Lindsay and Joe

So, last January, at one of our bridal shows, Lindsay and her "crew" stopped by our booth. As we were talking, Wendy, Lindsay's mother, starts telling me about her other daughter Hilary and how she takes really great pictures and she is looking to get an internship at one of the local studios. I say, well, I have actually been thinking about looking into getting an intern from one of our local schools. So, Hilary is sitting with me in the office a few days later and next thing I know, I have an intern. Hilary does an amazing job with our album layouts. Now back to Lindsay and Joe; We had a great time downtown. These two are so relaxed and fun to be with. Lindsay had me laughing half the time. I can not wait for their wedding day, we are going to have a blast.

WoW! what an incredible day! We started with Whitney having her hair done by D. Gasperson & Co. Then went to Whit's parents home to have makeup and get dressed. The Girls were having tons of fun just hanging out. Everyone was very relaxed. Jennifer Chadwell with Artistry by JAC did the girls makeup. We then headed to the church for the Ceremony and then downtown to Trolly's and some fun photos. I have to say that that was the first time that I have ever taken a shot of the guys with there trousers down to their ankles. (The girls suggested it, not me).

We then headed to Twin Oaks Country Club for the reception. Travel Tunes D.J. Service did a fantastic job as usual.

Maxwell Dane Dial has arrived

Maxwell Dane arrived yesterday evening at 5:54. He is 21inches long and weighs 8.10 pounds.
Traci was a real trouper and is doing very well. He is nursing great and Big sister Emma got to see Max for the first time this morning. It's an amazing thing! Instant love sweeps over you when you see your baby for the first time.

I can not believe that Emma will be 2 years old in just a few months. It's unbelievable how much I love this little girl. She will soon be a big sister with Max coming any day now.

Kristi and Jason's wedding was at St. Mary's in Pierce City, MO This was the second wedding we have photographed here. The first one was a few years ago on June 24 with Jason's sister Melanie. I remember going out to Jolly Mill to do some fun shots with the Bridal party. It must have been almost 100 degrees and we had to cut it short because the guys were about to have heat stroke in their suits. It was very warm last week as well but we made it through the heat and got the shots. I feel honored that I get to work with the same family again. Both Kristi and Jason's family's are super nice people and it was a complete blast to work with them. Here are a few of my favorite images.

Jessica and Keith's wedding is this weekend and will be held at The Chateau on the Lake in Branson. The ceremony will be held by the pool . We are looking forward to getting some really fantastic images for these two.

Brenna and Tate's Engagement Shoot

Brenna and Tate did a mad dash to Springfield to visit family and for their engagement session over Memorial Day weekend. This is one great looking couple. We will be shooting their wedding this July in Nebraska. The light was really great for the shoot so we were able to move around quite a bit. Here are a few of my favorites.

Ok, so after we got everyone in the stretch hummer we headed down to Branson and Silver Dollar city. Several months back Sarah asked me if I thought we could do a roller coaster shoot on her wedding day and of course I was totally excited about the idea. So I called my buddy down there and he was able to get us permission to come in just after the park closed. WOW! What a ride! Some of the cars on Thunderation are turned around backwards so that is where I sat to shoot the pictures from. We went around 3 times. It was a blast! then we headed to the landing for some fun shots. I was shooting away when one of the guys from the landing came up to me and informed me that we required a permit to photograph there. He was nice enough to let us Finnish. It was a 12 hour day and it was so worth it. The whole wedding party was a blast to work with. Sarah and Jason, you both rock!

Keirsten and Troy

Well, we had some fun at Keirsten and Troy's wedding. After the ceremony, we headed to Hammond's Field for some fun candids and then to one of my favorite places to go. I call it the Grassy knoll. The reception was held at the White River Room at Bass Pro. Kim from Detailed Productions did a fantastic job as usual putting the evening together.
